This is the 2.8m of the IRB 6400. It has an additional 40cm of reach provided by an extension in the upper arm. With this, the later 6400, the 2.8 version retains a standard maximum payload of 120kg.
The M98 is a slight update to the M97A software that it superseded. The S4C cabinet and the arm remain virtually unchanged. The cabinet has an exceptional reputation for ease of installation and programming, reliability, stability and functionality. The arm is re known for its accuracy, reliability and flexibility.
The S4C is a very capable control that has almost all of the functionality of the latest robots, easily enough for most installations. S4C 6400's are so highly specified that they are reinstalled by many major automotive manufacturers when a line equipped with them closes. This in turn means that they are very sought after on the used market.
The IRB 6400 can be used for many applications including spot welding, sealing, parts handling, trimming, grinding, fettling, de-burring, press tending, machine tending, palletising, de-palletising, pick and place etc.
The manipulator and cabinet are specified to IP54 and the robot wrist to IP55. The robot will operate in temperatures +5C to +55C and is accurate to 0.1mm. As with all ABB robots required maintenance is minimal and infrequent. Life expectancy of a robot, depending on application is approx 80,000 to 120,000 hours. Most robots we stock have between 5,000 and 35,000 hours.
