The ABB TR 510 is a very well known and highly regarded painting robot. Employed by many major manufacturers they have an excellent reputation for reliability, accuracy and quality of finish. Unlike standard 6 axis robots painting robots have different control systems and mechanics that adapt them to the task more fully. Firstly the control is better suited to the movements required in painting and are designed to replicate the movements of a skilled manual painter. Secondly the arm is designed to completely prevent the ingress of paint and solvent into the arm and in the case of EX rated robots the arm is pressurised with air. This means that any leaks will still not allow solvents to get into the robot.
